Jamie claims sixth Sparta Championship title

Sparta enjoyed an absolutely top-class Championship tournament on 13 May 2026, with a night of outstanding table tennis and a standard that continues to rise year after year.

Although there were not too many juniors taking part this year, those who did play acquitted themselves brilliantly and showed once again how much promise there is coming through the club.

The semi-finals were particularly memorable, with both matches going the full five sets. Andre gave Jamie a real fright in a superb contest, while the match between Bruno and Thomas was simply sensational.

The final itself was another five-set thriller. Jamie and Bruno were almost impossible to separate, with both players producing technically brilliant table tennis under pressure. In the end, Jamie came out on top to claim his sixth Sparta Championship title.

A sixth title is a remarkable achievement and confirms Jamie’s place as a true Sparta legend.

Congratulations also go to Jon, this year’s Plate competition winner, and to Catalin, who finished as runner-up.
