About Sparta TTC

The Club is known as Sparta Table Tennis Club. The address is Croydon Rugby FC, 135 Addington Road, West Wickham, Kent, BR4 9BF

History

The Club was established in 2015 as a members club operating on a non-profit making basis. All surplus profits are to be reinvested in the Club. No surpluses or assets will be distributed to members or third parties once all startup costs/loans have been repaid

Objects

The main purpose of the Club is to provide facilities for and to promote participation in the amateur sport of table tennis in the local area, and to carry on any additional activities that may be beneficial to the Club.

Honorary Officers

The Officers of the Club are Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and Team Manager. One person may not hold more than two offices.

Management Committee

  • The Club is governed by a Management Committee consisting of the Honorary Officers.
  • The Committee is empowered to co-opt additional members as required and will decide on any matters not covered by these rules.
  • The Committee shall meet at least once every three calendar months which will only be valid if attended by at least three Committee Members.
  • All members of the Committee are to be elected annually at the Annual General Meeting.

Membership

  • Membership of the Club shall be open to anyone interested in the sport on application regardless of sex, age, disability, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion or other beliefs
  • Subscriptions will be set annually at levels that will keep the Club viable and solvent
  • Prospective members must apply on the appropriate form obtainable from the Secretary. Payment of the appropriate subscription must accompany the application form which is to be returned to the Secretary. New members will be admitted by a majority vote of the Management Committee
  • All Members are entitled to attend General Meetings at the Club. All members, other than juniors are entitled to vote at General Meetings
  • All Members must be members of Table Tennis England
  • Membership shall cease by (1) voluntary withdrawal or by (2) Committee decision in the way of expulsion for disciplinary reasons. In either circumstance, the membership subscription will not be refunded. In the case of (2), the member shall have the right to appeal to the Committee and to be accompanied by a friend if desired. Any member who has been expelled shall forfeit all privileges of membership and all rights against the Club.

Visitors and Guests

On arrival, Visitors / Guests shall sign the Guest Book and pay the set fee agreed by the Committee for each practise session. An emergency contact number will be required. The Club operates a strict 'No Pay No Play' policy. A visitor/guest may attend four times after which they must obtain Table Tennis England membership.

General Meetings

  • An Annual General Meeting will be held in May/June of each year to elect a Management Committee and to deal with any other business concerning the Club
  • A Special General Meeting will be convened at any time if considered necessary by the Committee and also within 30 days of the Secretary receiving a written request stating reasons and signed by at least 10 members eligible to vote at General Meetings
  • Notice of the day and time of all General Meetings will be posted on the Club notice board and emailed to all members at least 21 days before the event

Subscriptions, Finances and Accounts

  • Subscriptions for the ensuing year, to the 31st May will be decided upon by the Committee as well as all other charges and fees receivable
  • The Committee may reduce subscriptions for members applying after 31st December in any year.
  • The Treasurer will keep a proper book of account so as to be able to report on the Club's finances at the Committee Meetings and to produce accounts by the 30th of April each year

Disciplinary Procedures

  • All Members and Visitors whilst on the Club premises are expected to show total respect to each other and to Club property. Any acts of violence, vandalism, misconduct or anti Social behaviour of any sort will not be tolerated and may result in expulsion
  • The Club will operate a strict 'No Swear Policy'

Rules

  • Every Member and Visitor is to be bound by these Rules, a copy of which is available for inspection.
  • Any proposed amendment to the Rules must be submitted in writing, signed by a Member eligible to vote at General Meetings, to the Secretary by 30th April for discussion at the next Committee Meeting and ratification at the next AGM

Dissolution

  • Upon dissolution of the Club, all outstanding loans and start-up costs are to be repaid if the funds are available. Any remaining assets shall be given to another CASC, a registered charity or the sports governing body for use by them in related community sports
  • Croydon Table Tennis League will hold all assets secure for a period of five years pending a reform of the Club. Should this not occur, the assets shall permanently revert to the body holding the assets
