A few stats about Sparta
Being part of the Sparta family is becoming ever more popular. We have new members joining on a regular basis bringing a whole range of different playing styles to the club.
Sparta was unique in ancient Greece for its social system and constitution
"Sparta" was an ancient Greek town unique for its social system and constitution, which completely focused on training and excellence. This is our aim, excellence through training.
Sparta Table Tennis Club was established in 2015. Our opening night was on the 15th of April.
There is plenty of experience within the membership of the club. A few of the members have been playing table tennis at a high standard in local leagues for over 30 years.
The club has qualified coaches who are available on request.
What guests and members think about us
I was visiting the UK from Trinidad and Tobago and wanted a place to play while I was on holiday. So I contacted Harry from the club and he made arrangements for me to attend. The members were friendly and welcoming and possessed various skill levels. It looks like a well run club and I can easily recommend them to others. The next time I am in the UK you know where I will be going :)
Sparta's a great club! It has a really diverse membership & welcomes people of all backgrounds & abilities. You can play at Sparta as a guest for awhile, paying per session, and then if you're happy & want to get more involved you pay an annual membership fee & play as much as you want. I think it's probably the friendliest club I've ever played at, lots of people there who are prepared to help you practise & improve your game. I try & play at least once per week, great atmosphere, enthusiastic people, "Go Sparta !!!"

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Sparta offer coaching for adults?
No, however, members will always help new players with techniques. We also have a fully qualified coach (Peter) who offers private coaching at a venue in Beckenham.
Can I just turn up and play?
No. We have a ‘Bookings What’s App Group’ and all bookings should be made via that. We also have a ‘Scheduled What’s App Group’ where confirmation of your booking can be seen. Details are given to you on your initial contact.
If I attend will I get to play for the whole session?
We have a six table venue and will allow 18 people to attend at any one time. Sessions are 20 minutes in duration for two members/guests to practice (x 6) before changing the players. Therefore everyone plays for an equal amount of time on the night with different partners at every change.
How much are the practice sessions for non-members?
Guest fees are £10 for a three hour session. Juniors on any day are £7.50.
When is Sparta open for practice?
We are open on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights for practice, and also open on Saturday afternoons for practice. Saturday mornings are reserved for junior coaching. During the league season, Mondays and Wednesdays offer limited practice depending on the amount of matches being played in the hall.
How do I become a member of Sparta?
Before becoming a member of Sparta, we would prefer for you to play a few sessions to make sure you like the club. After that, you can sign up by paying the annual fee which entitles you to participate in all advertised practice sessions, as well as playing in local league competitions if you are a suitable standard.
